Our pharmacy team works closely with your doctors and insurance companies to provide specialty medication as quickly and affordably as possible. We conduct initial and ongoing clinical assessments to monitor the suitability of your treatment or therapy.

Our pharmacy staff makes delivery arrangements for each prescription fill, making sure that each delivery fits conveniently into your schedule. A licensed pharmacist is on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week for any urgent questions or concerns.

How to Place a Prescription Order
Patients can fill their specialty prescriptions with Carle Health Specialty Pharmacy by contacting us and giving their medication, doctor and insurance coverage information. We’ll then contact the doctor to get the right paperwork. Or – to save a step – a patient can have their doctor directly send us the prescription by phone, fax or electronically

How to Obtain a Refill
We monitor patient refill schedules and contact patients before their medication runs out, arranging refill delivery and also checking on their treatment progress. However, feel free to call us at (217) 383-8700 before medication runs out, if there’s a change in treatment plan, or if you have any questions or concerns.

How to Access Medication in Case of an Emergency or Disaster
If a patient requires an emergency fill of a medication, please call us at (217) 383-8700 for help. We’ll work with the doctor’s office and/or insurance company to help with the request as soon as possible

How to Check on a Prescription Status
We are dedicated to keeping you informed of your care. We’ll keep you informed of the status of the medication as it progress through each step. You can reach out to the pharmacy at (217) 383-8700 to check on your prescription status.

Information on Prescription Substitution
In the event that a medication is unavailable, we will contact the prescribing doctor to find a suitable substitution. If a suitable substitution is unavailable, our pharmacist will initiate a transfer (see below for more information).

How to Transfer a Prescription to Another Pharmacy
We can reach out to other pharmacies to transfer a prescription to our pharmacy at the patient’s request. If we don’t have a prescribed medication on hand for a patient and no suitable substitute medication is available (after consulting with the patient’s doctor) – or if the patient would simply like another pharmacy to fill the prescription – we’ll transfer the prescription to another in-network pharmacy. We’ll let the patient know all the steps they need to take to get their medication from the other pharmacy.
